A Liver and White King Chaarles Spaniel in a Wooded Landscape
by George Stubbs, 1776

Welcome

Several years ago, we began our search for a smaller dog with the personality of a large dog. We had Doberman Pinschers for a long time and while we loved them, we were looking for a more portable dog that we could take with us when we went places. We did not want a "yappy" or "snappy" dog. We wanted to be able to bring our new dog on hikes, float trips and to the kid's sporting events. One of the first places I went to research was the veterinary community. Without hesitation, several veterinarians recommended the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The personality of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is very special, and they are among the easiest of dogs to live with. They are companion dogs, highly trainable and eager to please the people in their lives. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel's sweet, melting expression and happy disposition are hallmarks of the breed.

We set out to find a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel from a reputable breeder who tested their breeding stock for health problems. The breed club web sites have a lot of information including guidelines on recommended screenings and breeding ages; I learned a great deal from these web sites. I also found and read every book and publication I could find about Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. I think of a pet as a permanent member of the family and wanted to make a wise choice, as our new dog would hopefully be with us for many, many years.

It took a long time to find our new companion, but it was certainly worth the wait! The entire family was crazy about this wonderful dog. It wasn't long before we thought we needed another Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and then wanted to get involved with competition. Time spent with our Cavalier King Charles Spaniels is very rewarding. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels need a bit of grooming and training, but what you get in return is immeasuralbe. I can't imagine not have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in our lives; they are absolutely enchanting!

As our children have become more independent, I have become much more involved in the world of dogs. Attending dog shows, training, participating in conformation and performance showing and even joining several clubs have become a favourite hobby. I have met many wonderful friends, as a result. We have only a few Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, but they have very rich lives. We occasionally have puppies, primarily to continue our quest for a great show Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. We only breed Cavalier King Charles Spaniels that are health tested by board certified specialists for heart disease, eye diseases, have OFA certification for hips, and have normal patella examinations.

My husband is a veterinary ophthalmologist. I worked in veterinary medicine for many years and now human nursing. Needless to say, we feel very strongly about doing our best to produce puppies that will live long, healthy lives. Please contact us to discuss Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, a welcome topic!
